McClave won the last time they faced Fleming and Tuff Kelley did his part to make sure it happened again. The Cardinals blew past the Wildcats 65-43 on Saturday with plenty of help from Kelley, who dropped a double-double with 22 points and 13 boards. He is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in each of the last 17 games he's played dating back to last season.
Despite the defeat, Fleming saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jaron Monroe posted nine points along with five rebounds and three steals. Those three steals set a new season-high mark for Monroe. Bentley Chavez also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assist of the season.
McClave now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Fleming, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.
McClave will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Eads at 7:00 p.m. on January 9, 2026. This will be the Cardinals' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. Fleming will take on Caliche in a holiday battle at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
