Baseball Recap: Jefferson Victorious

Jefferson hadn't done well against Lincoln recently (they were 1-7 in their previous eight matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Yellowjackets won by a run and slipped past the Lynx 3-2. This was a revenge game for the Yellowjackets: when they faced off against the Lynx on June 4th, they had to take a 6-3 defeat.

Aiden Moore got the start for Jefferson and what a start it was: he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The Yellowjackets are 2-1 when Moore allows one or fewer hits, but 5-20 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Jefferson's victory was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Nate Anderson, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI. Anderson is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

Jefferson pushed their record up to 7-21 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Lincoln, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-22.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Jefferson beat the Lynx by a score of 7-6 later that day.
