Baseball Game Preview: Chimacum Cowboys vs. University Prep Pumas

Chimacum is preparing for their first district matchup of the season on Wednesday. They will look to defend their home field against the University Prep Pumas at 4:00 p.m. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses apiece.

Chimacum fell victim to Bremerton and their airtight pitching crew on Saturday. They came up short against the Knights, falling 15-0.

Meanwhile, University Prep came up short against Overlake on Thursday and fell 5-2.

Hawthorne Moody spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and four unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up ten Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, University Prep saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Noah Keppler, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI. Those hits marked the first that Keppler got this season.

University Prep's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Chimacum, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 1-4.
