Basketball Game Preview: Valley Forge Patriots vs. Lakewood Rangers

Valley Forge is 1-7 against Lakewood since January of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Valley Forge Patriots will venture away from home to face off against the Lakewood Rangers at 12:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Valley Forge is headed into Saturday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 28th straight game dating back to last season on Wednesday. They took a hard 37-21 fall against Bay. While losing is never fun, the Patriots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 741st, while the Rockets are ranked 358th).

Meanwhile, Lakewood came up short against Rocky River on Wednesday and fell 40-27. The Rangers haven't had much luck with the Pirates recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.

Lakewood's loss dropped their record down to 7-12. As for Valley Forge, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-19.

Valley Forge took a serious blow against Lakewood when the teams last played back in January, falling 55-28. Can Valley Forge avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
