Preview: Chazy Eagles vs. Johnsburg Central Jaguars
The Chazy Eagles will be playing at home against the Johnsburg Central Jaguars at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Chazy unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Thursday. They were dealt a 59-32 loss at the hands of Boquet Valley. While losing is never fun, Chazy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 581st, while Boquet Valley is ranked 242nd).
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Johnsburg Central, who are still winless after their sixth matchup. They took a 36-28 hit to the loss column at the hands of Fort Ann back in December of 2023.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Nate Vanderwarker, who scored five points along with seven steals and five rebounds. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. Nick Sauer-Jones was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with ten rebounds and seven steals.
Chazy's defeat dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Johnsburg Central, they bumped their record down to 0-6 with that defeat, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season.
Chazy took their victory against Johnsburg Central in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 by a conclusive 50-26. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Johnsburg Central's Rodney Wolfe, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds.
