Baseball Recap: Hot Springs Comes Up Short

Hot Springs extended their losing streak to five on Friday, dropping them down to 8-11. They lost 15-5 to the Tularosa Wildcats. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-3 on Tuesday.

Hot Springs saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Salvador Hernadez, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.

As for Tularosa, the victory was the tenth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-4. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games.

On Tularosa's side, Cameron Holguin was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off five hits. What's more, Holguin posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Tularosa beat Hot Springs by a score of 14-4 later that day.
