Baseball Recap: Schoharie Has No Trouble Against Fort Plain

Schoharie hadn't done well against Fort Plain recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Storm were the clear victors by an 8-1 margin over the Hilltoppers. That's more bragging rights for the Storm, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Justin Vangasbeck spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up 15 Ks.

At the plate, Schoharie got a massive performance out of Devon Schrader, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. That stolen base marked the first that Schrader has snagged this season. Another player making a difference was Tyler Dingee, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple.

Schoharie has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Fort Plain, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-10.
