Softball Recap: Dover-Eyota Starts Season with Victory on the Road

Dover-Eyota had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. Everything went their way against the Pine Island Panthers on Thursday as they made off with a 12-1 victory. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Eagles also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2022.

Aubrey Foster made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Foster was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with four RBI and one double. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Dover-Eyota let Olivea Banitt and Kyllee Howlett run wild. Banitt scored four runs while going 4-for-5, while Howlett scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-4. Those four runs gave Banitt a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jolie Draper, who scored two runs while going 1-for-4.

Dover-Eyota didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 4-1 defeat against Cannon Falls on the 4th. Pine Island has also already played their next matchup (against Simley), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
