League recap: Damascus wins, gets boost in standings

Damascus was the team that made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from fourth to second in Montgomery County 2A/3A. Earlier in the week, the Hornets triumphed over Northwood 42-8.

The Gladiators fell to Damascus 42-8 last week, the largest margin of any game.

Wheaton's Mikey Patterson Jr and Carey Brown have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Patterson Jr has thrown for 82 yards this season, while Brown has 3 catches for 32 yards. Quinton Schaired from Watkins Mill leads the league in rushing with 76 yards.

Fans will be treated to a premier battle in the secondary when the Knights' Brown goes up against the Wolverines' Tindal Isaiah.

One of the league's premier quarterbacks will face off with its top pass rusher when Wheaton and Watkins Mill face off next week.

Next week's game between Ernest Williams' team and Kevin Watson's team will feature a good passing match up as Patterson Jr will test his arm against Isaiah's defensive ability.

At the moment, the Wolverines are in third, while the Knights are in fifth.

The league will see a high scoring game when Watkins Mill and Wheaton face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Wolverines comes in having scored 29 this season, while the Knights have scored 6. Watkins Mill scored 0 points last week as it lost to Gaithersburg.

Northwood made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 10,803 from 10,902. The improvement came about via a 42-8 victory over Dennis Harris' team last week.
