Softball Game Preview: Penquis Valley Patriots vs. Greenville Lakers

The Penquis Valley Patriots will head out on the road to take on the Greenville Lakers at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses for Penquis Valley and six for Greenville dating back to last season.

Penquis Valley's last matchup with Dexter could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's match on Monday. The Patriots came up short against the Tigers, falling 14-0.

Penquis Valley saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ava Harmon, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Greenville fell victim to Stearns and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They lost 10-0 to the Minutemen. The game marked the first time this year in which the Lakers were not able to get on the board.

Penquis Valley's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Greenville, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-5.

Penquis Valley took their victory against Greenville in their previous matchup back in May of 2023 by a conclusive 15-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Patriots since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
