Softball Game Preview: Eastern Greene Thunderbirds vs. Shakamak Lakers

The Eastern Greene Thunderbirds will take on the Shakamak Lakers at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Eastern Greene is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.

On Thursday, Eastern Greene came up short against Loogootee and fell 7-3. The Thunderbirds have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Ashlynn Bellman made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double. Another player making a difference was Charley Paurazas, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Shakamak). They put the hurt on Bloomington North with a sharp 16-7 win on Monday. The Lakers not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since May 11, 2024 (when they won 17-1).

Jamison Ewers was incredible, going 3-for-5 with five RBI, three runs, and one stolen base. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Peyton Gambill was another key player, going 2-for-4 with four runs, one double, and one RBI.

Eastern Greene's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Shakamak, their victory bumped their record up to 4-7.
