Basketball Game Preview: Des Lacs-Burlington Lakers vs. Thompson Tommies

The Des Lacs-Burlington Lakers will wrap up 2024 with a road trip to face off against the Thompson Tommies at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.

Last Saturday, everything came up roses for Des Lacs-Burlington against Hazen as the squad secured a 66-27 win.

Meanwhile, Thompson was fully in charge on Friday, breezing past Carrington 61-28.

Des Lacs-Burlington better focus on containing Karter Peterson and Gavin Krogstad as the pair were huge in Thompson's win. Peterson went 9 of 13 on his way to 20 points and eight rebounds, while Krogstad went 5 of 10 on his way to 16 points and five rebounds. Krogstad's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Drew Odenbach, who posted five points and 13 rebounds.

Thompson smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in four consecutive games dating back to last season.

Des Lacs-Burlington now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Thompson, their victory bumped their record up to 3-0.

Des Lacs-Burlington won a matchup that couldn't have been any closer in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, slipping by Thompson 49-48. The rematch might be a little tougher for Des Lacs-Burlington since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
