Football Recap: Goldsboro Takes a Loss

Goldsboro had lost six straight at home dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped down to 1-9 to make it seven. They were outmatched by the Midway Raiders and fell 56-22. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 383rd, while the Raiders are ranked 178th).

As for Midway, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 45.2 points over those games.

Tanner Williams was his usual excellent self, throwing for 223 yards and four TDs. His passing game has become a key predictor of Midway's success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 1-2 otherwise. Cameron Register was in the mix too, providing the Raiders with two touchdowns.

As of now, neither Goldsboro nor Midway have any future games scheduled.
