Softball Recap: Muhlenberg Muhls vs. Oley Valley Lynx
In what's become a running theme this season, Muhlenberg gave their fans yet another huge victory on Tuesday. They blew past the Oley Valley Lynx 17-4. The win made it back-to-back victories for Muhlenberg.
Madison Wentzel made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. Wentzel was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while going 1-for-5.
In other batting news, Muhlenberg got a massive performance out of Erin Smith, who scored four runs while going 4-for-4. Kaylee Jablonski was another key contributor, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
On Oley Valley's side, Dana Messner was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Brianna Garcia, who scored a run while going 2-for-2.
Even though they lost, Oley Valley was hitting in the alleys and finished the game with three doubles. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Muhlenberg didn't hit any.
The win got Muhlenberg back to even at 4-4. As for Oley Valley, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-4.
Muhlenberg will head out on the road to challenge Daniel Boone at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Oley Valley, they will take on Brandywine Heights Area at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Oley Valley is facing Brandywine Heights Area at the right time seeing as Brandywine Heights Area is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
