Preview: Northwest Cabarrus Trojans vs. Robinson Bulldogs

The Northwest Cabarrus Trojans will head out on the road to face off against the Robinson Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Northwest Cabarrus had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They blew past West Rowan, posting a 52-21 victory at home. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Northwest Cabarrus.

Northwest Cabarrus can attribute much of their success to Alex Walker, who threw for 276 yards and a touchdown while picking up 12.0 yards per attempt, and Ray Jay Waters, who rushed for 157 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 9.2 yards per carry. Porter Branham did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 81 receiving yards.

Meanwhile, Robinson put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They didn't even let North Davidson onto the board and left with a 42-0 win. Given Robinson's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 45th, while North Davidson is ranked 193rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Na'ledge Wright continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 240 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 15.0 yards per carry. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaac Lee, who threw for 242 yards and a touchdown while picking up 12.1 yards per attempt.

Northwest Cabarrus' victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-1. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-10 East Rowan and 1-9 West Cabarrus (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 31.8% over those games). As for Robinson, their victory bumped their record up to 11-0.

We should be in store for an exciting game Friday as both teams have no problem gaining yardage. Northwest Cabarrus has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 401.8 total yards per game. However, it's not like Robinson struggles in that department as they've been averaging 393.5 per game. With a pair of commanding offenses duking it out, the defenses are going to have their work cut out for them. Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.

Northwest Cabarrus came up short against Robinson in their previous matchup back in October, falling 21-13. Can Northwest Cabarrus avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
