Toby Dickson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Jefferson Area is 3-1 when Dickson allows three or fewer earned runs, but 1-4 otherwise. Dickson was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Devin Salinas, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season. Michael Riffle was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Jefferson Area was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .382. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lakeside only posted a batting average of .200.
Jefferson Area is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 4-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Lakeside, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season.
Lakeside's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Jefferson Area hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .354.
