Football Game Preview: Phoenix Pirates vs. Cascade Christian Challengers

Phoenix hasn't had much luck against Cascade Christian recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Pirates will challenge the Challengers at 7:00 p.m.

Phoenix is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against North Valley on Saturday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Pirates lost 42-21 to the Knights. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Pirates have suffered since September 27, 2024.

Phoenix might have lost, but man, Cody Martin was a machine: he rushed for 111 yards on only ten carries.

Meanwhile, Cascade Christian strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Klamath Union 69-0. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Challengers' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Oregon football rankings (they are ranked tenth, while the Pelicans are ranked 126th).

Phoenix's defeat dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Cascade Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 6-0.

Phoenix was dealt a bruising 42-7 loss at the hands of Cascade Christian in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Pirates were down 35-0.
