Basketball Recap: Pewitt Skates Past Detroit with Ease

On Friday, the Pewitt Brahmas couldn't have asked for a better start to 2025 than the 68-27 blowout they got against the Detroit Eagles. That looming 68-27 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Brahmas yet this season.

Pewitt was led to victory by Wesley Smith and Jesse Murphy. Smith went 7 for 9 on his way to 16 points and five steals, while Murphy went 6 of 14 on his way to 20 points. The dominant performance gave Smith a new career-high in steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Wooda Betts, who went 5 of 11 en route to 10 points and four steals.

Pewitt smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in six consecutive matchups.

Pewitt's win bumped their record up to 10-12. As for Detroit, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-11.

Pewitt will take on Harmony at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Detroit, they will face off against Harts Bluff at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
