Softball Recap: Herrin Comes Up Short

After some red-hot attacks at the plate in their last three contests, Herrin finally came back down to earth on Monday. They lost 6-0 to the Harrisburg Bulldogs. The Tigers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Bulldogs earlier this season, when they won 4-2.

Herrin has also been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-11 record this season. As for Harrisburg, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups. That somehow still isn't as good as their 16-5 record this season.

Herrin and Harrisburg should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. The Tigers will challenge DuQuoin at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (213 vs. 464). Meanwhile, Harrisburg (ranked 102nd) will meet Murphysboro (ranked 282nd) at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
