Baseball Game Preview: Prairie View Thunderhawks vs. Northglenn Norsemen

The Prairie View Thunderhawks will head out to take on the Northglenn Norsemen at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Prairie View is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last eight games.

Prairie View had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Mountain Range on Tuesday. The Thunderhawks put the hurt on the Mustangs with a sharp 11-1 win. The Thunderhawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by seven runs or more this season.

Eddie Cortez was a standout: he scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2. Jerry Stone was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-1.

Prairie View was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .308 or higher in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Northglenn didn't have quite enough to beat Greeley West on Tuesday and fell 10-9. The Norsemen have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Prairie View pushed their record up to 12-3 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Northglenn, their loss dropped their record down to 6-9.

Everything went Prairie View's way against Northglenn in their previous meeting back in March, as Prairie View made off with a 10-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Thunderhawks since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
