Recap: Bartow Yellow Jackets vs. Lake Region Thunder
The Bartow Yellow Jackets's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss. They were outmatched by Lake Region at home and fell 54-14. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Bartow has suffered since December 18, 2023.
Dackjerlin Senior was Bartow's leading scorer, having posted six points.
Jalissa Foster held things down on the boards with seven rebounds. She took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with two assists.
Lake Region's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Destiny Witherspoon, who scored 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Le?zaria Davis, who scored 16 points.
Bartow has not been sharp recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-14 record this season. As for Lake Region, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-9.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bartow and George Jenkins will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 18th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully George Jenkins focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Tuesday. Lake Region on the road again on Friday and play against DeSoto County at 7:30 p.m. on January 19th. Hopefully DeSoto County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Thursday.
