3A Special District 2 recap October 29, 2013
Coquille took down Bandon/Pacific 20-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Joseph Scolari ran for 94 yards and caught 1 pass for 40 yards in the win.
The Red Devils made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 12,699 from 13,051. The improvement was largely due to a 20-0 victory over the Tigers last week.
Coquille's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Zach Breitkreutz threw for 39 yards and Scolari had 40 yards receiving. On the ground Scolari chipped in 94 yards.
Scolari was a passing and rushing force as David Thomason's team topped Bandon/Pacific.
Breitkreutz put up the best numbers through the air as the Red Devils beat Silia Polamalu's team.
Leading 3A Special District 2 in both passing and receiving yards, Coquille's Breitkreutz and Scolari have proven to be a lethal combination. 5-10 quarterback Breitkreutz has thrown for 517 yards this season, while Scolari has 20 catches for 288 yards. The Tigers' Shawn Peters leads the league in rushing yards with 476.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Glide takes on Bandon/Pacific. At the moment, the Wildcats are in first, while the Tigers are in third.
