Akron hadn't done well against Haxtun recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Rams blew past the Fightin' Bulldogs 13-3. Considering the Rams have won nine matches by more than eight runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Jax Kusel made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted over his last four games. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last six times he's played.

In other batting news, Caleb Poss and Kolten Randel did most of the damage at the plate: Poss got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Randel went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those two RBI gave Randel a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Tucker Stahn, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Akron always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .625. They are a perfect 11-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Akron has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.1 runs over those games. As for Haxtun, their loss ended a nine-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 11-3.
