Softball Recap: Mayo Comes Up Short

Mayo has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.08 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Tuesday. They came up short against the Mankato East Cougars, falling 10-0. The defeat continues a trend for the Spartans in their meetings with the Cougars: they've now lost nine in a row.

Mayo's loss dropped their record down to 9-4. As for Mankato East, they pushed their record up to 10-1 with the victory, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mayo will face off against Century at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Mankato East, they will take on John Marshall at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Rockets have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.8 runs per game on average), something the Cougars will no doubt try to take advantage of.
