Baseball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Mav Goad and Zach Weatherman Lead Grayson County to Victory

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Carroll County, Grayson County was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They never let the Galax Maroon Tide get on the board and left with a 13-0 win. The Blue Devils might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matches by nine runs or more this season.

Makray Goad and Mac Goad made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Goad pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Mac tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Makray has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances. At bat, Goad went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base, while Mac went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Makray is becoming a predictor of Grayson County's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 10-1 (and 1-6 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Grayson County let Zach Weatherman and Mav Goad run wild. Weatherman went 1-for-2 with three RBI, one run, and one double, while Goad went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. Grayson County is 10-1 when Goad posts two or more runs, but 1-6 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Adam Pennington, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Grayson County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .519. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Grayson County's victory bumped their record up to 11-7. As for Galax, their loss dropped their record down to 2-14.
