Basketball Recap: Jaliyah Hargrove's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Hancock Central over Pelham

Hancock Central and Pelham squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Hancock Central had to settle for second. They took a 51-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pelham Hornets.

Hancock Central's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaliyah Hargrove, who made all 6 shots she took for 12 points. That's the most points Hargrove has posted since back in February of 2024. Sonovia Reynolds was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Ja'Kieria Frazier continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Pelham, posting 22 points along with four steals and four blocks. Frazier is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last ten games she's played.

Hancock Central's loss dropped their record down to 14-8. As for Pelham, their victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-11.

Hancock Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Pelham, they will square off against Clinch County on Friday. Pelham is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.8 points per game this season.
