League recap: Morgan breaks off league-leading run for Commerce

Parker Morgan of Commerce ran for the longest rushing play in 2A District 8 this season against Ketchum last week. Morgan ran for 84 yards on the play and finished with 171 on the day as his team defeated the Warriors.

Seth Brumley and Tyler Bacon provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Wyandotte. The connection was good for 98 yards, the longest such play in the league this season.

Quapaw's dynamic duo of Brumley and Bacon proved tough for the Bears to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Brumley threw for 349 yards and four touchdowns and Bacon had 295 yards receiving. Beau Kibel helped Quapaw's passing attack out by catching three balls for 50 yards.

The Wildcats' Brumley and Bacon have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Brumley has thrown for 1537 yards this season, while Bacon, a 5-foot-9 receiver, has 52 catches for 955 yards. Commerce's Morgan leads the league in rushing yards with 944.

Quapaw's Bacon needs only 45 receiving yards against Hulbert to crack 1,000 for the season.

Morgan of the Steve Moss' team is only 56 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season.

A big matchup in 2A District 8 this week will be when Kansas takes on Wyandotte. The Comets are currently in second, while Scott Martin's team is in third.

The Tigers extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Ketchum, 56-12. The win marks sixth in a row for the Commerce.
