Baseball Recap: Edison Gets the Win

Edison made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Lathrop, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Edison Vikings never let the Lathrop Spartans get on the board and left with a 6-0 win on Tuesday. The Vikings might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by six runs or more this season.

Santiago Moreno made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over 6.2 innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing Three bases. while going 2-for-4. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played.

In other batting news, Julian Avila was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-3. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Izaak Navarrete, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Edison now has a winning record of 3-2-1. As for Lathrop, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.

Edison will have a chance to go back-to-back against Lathrop: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
