Basketball Recap: Pinewood Christian Takes a Loss

Pinewood Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against the Bulloch Academy Gators, falling 74-52. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Patriots this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 71-43 two weeks ago.

Despite the loss, Pinewood Christian still got an impressive performance from Banks Hearn, who posted 30 points. Hearn's evening made it 11 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Sam Wasson, who had eight points.

Bulloch Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Akiryon Watkins out in front who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 boards. Watkins is also crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Ike Hubbard was another key player, putting up 16 points and three steals.

Pinewood Christian's loss dropped their record down to 4-14. As for Bulloch Academy, the win got them back to even at 8-8.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pinewood Christian will take on St. Andrew's at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in St. Andrew's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last seven matchups. As for Bulloch Academy, they will face off against Westminster Schools of Augusta at 7:30 p.m. on February 4th.
