Baseball Recap: Wednesday's Win Is Healdsburg's Seventh in Last Eight Outings

With a playoff win on the line, Healdsburg rose to the challenge on Wednesday. They came out on top against the St. Patrick-St. Vincent Bruins by a score of 5-2.

Eric Nielsen tossed a big game, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Nova Perrill, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Frank Rea, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Healdsburg hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as St. Patrick-St. Vincent struck out ten times.

Healdsburg has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for St. Patrick-St. Vincent, they moved to 20-5 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Looking ahead, Healdsburg will take on Arroyo at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Dons will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something the Greyhounds surely won't give up without a fight. St. Patrick-St. Vincent does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
