Softball Recap: Tamalpais Snaps Seven-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Tamalpais dropped their record down to 12-6 on Wednesday, which also ended the team's seven-game streak of wins at home. They fell just short of the Marin Catholic Wildcats by a score of 3-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-3 on April 3rd.

Eden Clark spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on two hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Ava Lee made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with three doubles and one run.

As for Marin Catholic, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games.

On Marin Catholic's side, they also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Malliah Foster gave up only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits and racked up 11 Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Morgan Carlson, who got on base in two of her three plate appearances with four stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lyla Gonzalez, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

Coincidentally, Tamalpais and Marin Catholic will both be playing San Marin the next time they take the field. The Wildcats will head out to face the Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Red Tailed Hawks will host them at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
