Basketball Recap: Hayden Drops Highest Score of Season Against Soroco

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hayden). They came out on top against the Soroco Rams by a score of 49-36 on Friday. The Tigers pushed the score to 46-25 by the end of the third, a deficit the Rams cut but never quite recovered from.

Hayden's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Taryn Schlim, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Schlim a new career-high in blocks (eight). Another player making a difference was Ella Harris, who went 5 of 12 on her way to 12 points along with six assists and six boards.

Hayden smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 23 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive rebounds in 12 consecutive matches dating back to last season.

Despite the loss, Soroco still got an impressive performance from Alayna Edwards, who posted eight points in addition to seven rebounds and five steals. Alyvia Cox also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

Hayden now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Soroco, their loss was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-9.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Vail Christian the next time they take the court. Soroco will head out to face Vail Christian at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, while Hayden will host them at 5:30 p.m. on January 31st.
