Basketball Recap: New Ulm Cathedral Snaps Five-Game Streak of Losses at Home

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Lester Prairie, New Ulm Cathedral was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They secured a 56-51 W over the Cleveland Clippers. The Greyhounds have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Clippers, too.

New Ulm Cathedral got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Joe Gillis out in front who almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine boards. That's the most rebounds Gillis has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jake Finstad, who posted 14 points and five steals.

New Ulm Cathedral's win ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-11. As for Cleveland, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season.

New Ulm Cathedral has already played their next matchup (against Wabasso), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Cleveland will face off against Martin County West at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
