Mead hasn't had much luck against Holy Family recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. Mead is taking a road trip to face off against Holy Family at 4:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a four-game winning streak alive.
Mead made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Berthoud, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Mead blew past Berthoud 11-4 on Tuesday. Considering the Mavericks have won six matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Mead got a great performance from Kaleb Walter as he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. Walter has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Willie Eilers and Edison Burke did most of the damage at the plate: Eilers went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one triple, and one run, while Burke scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-4. Those four RBI gave Eilers a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Stryker Leick, who scored a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
Mead always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .568. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in four consecutive games.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Holy Family). Their pitcher stepped up to hand Eagle Valley a 15-0 shutout on Friday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Tigers with their most commanding win of the season.
Nolan Brunner looked comfortable as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over four innings pitched.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Logan Seifarth, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Britain Fox was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.
Mead's record is now 6-1. As for Holy Family, their win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Mead has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.1 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Holy Family struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Mead came up short against Holy Family when the teams last played back in April of 2024, falling 9-6. Can Mead avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
