Softball Recap: First Coast Comes Up Short

If First Coast was feeling good fresh off their 18-8 takedown of Fernandina Beach on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Buccaneers came up short against the Beachside Barracudas on Wednesday, falling 12-3. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Buccaneers of the 12-2 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2025.

First Coast saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lexi Gates, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI. Brooke Edmonds also deserves some recognition as she got her first hits of the season.

First Coast's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Beachside, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. First Coast will head out to challenge Wolfson at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Beachside, they will venture away from home to square off against Yulee at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
