Recap: Rampart Rams vs. Widefield Gladiators
The Rampart Rams entered their tilt with the Widefield Gladiators with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Rampart walked away with a 54-42 victory over the Gladiators on Monday. For Rampart, this counts as revenge for the 60-54 defeat the Gladiators walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2022.
Rampart's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Emily Huxtable led the charge by scoring 19 points along with five assists and two blocks. That makes it three consecutive games in which Huxtable has scored at least a third of Rampart's points. Izzy Dalrymple was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with two steals.
Widefield's loss came despite strong showings from Isabella Monk and Kasaya Krause. Monk scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and four steals, while Krause scored 17 points. Monk is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 13 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Lilly Solano, who scored six points.
The win got Rampart back to even at 8-8. As for Widefield, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rampart will face off against the Lancers at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Colorado (Liberty is ranked 67th, while the Rams are ranked 88th). As for Widefield, they will head out on the road to challenge the Panthers at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Harrison has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since January 6.
