Softball Recap: Greenup County Extends Winning Streak to Six

Greenup County came tearing into Tuesday's match with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.6 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They never let the Portsmouth Trojans get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. Considering the Musketeers have won nine games by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Greenup County pushed their record up to 13-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Portsmouth, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season.

Greenup County will venture away from home to square off against Raceland at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Musketeers 1.6, the Rams 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Portsmouth, they will be playing at home against Rock Hill at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
