Basketball Recap: Exeter Takes a Loss

Exeter lost against Kennedy back in December of 2022 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Exeter Monarchs were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 54-53 to the Kennedy Thunderbirds.

Exeter lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Aden Plyman, who posted 15 points and eight rebounds. The contest was Plyman's third in a row with at least ten points. Blaine Mcfall was another key player, putting up 13 points and three blocks.

Leading Kennedy to victory were Yoshi Tanaka and Jaymar Buton. Tanaka went 6 for 9 en route to 14 points and six boards, while Buton went 6 of 7 on his way to 13 points and five rebounds. Those 14 points gave Tanaka a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Zikeem Dozer, who earned six points and five assists.

Exeter's loss dropped their record down to 16-4. As for Kennedy, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-10.

Exeter didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 74-70 defeat against Kerman on the 28th. As for Kennedy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 69-39 victory against Wasco on the 28th.
