Football Preview: Rocky Mount Gryphons vs. Holmes Aces
The Rocky Mount Gryphons will venture away from home to face off against the Holmes Aces at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
Things were looking good for Rocky Mount after they put the first points on the board on Friday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They were just a hair shy of victory and fell 23-22 to Vance County. Despite 66 more yards than the Vipers, the Gryphons couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.
Even though they lost, Rocky Mount was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 282 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Vance County only rushed for 85.
Meanwhile, Holmes had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They managed a 22-16 victory over Bertie on Thursday.
Rocky Mount came up short against Holmes in their previous meeting back in September of 2023, falling 20-9. Can Rocky Mount avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
