Mt. Carmel hadn't done well against Helix recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Sundevils narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Highlanders 3-2. For the Sundevils, this counts as revenge for the 3-1 victory the Highlanders walked away with the last time they faced one another back in August of 2024.

It was an exciting match in which no team won back-to-back sets, but at the end of the day Mt. Carmel got the one that really mattered. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 26-24, 22-25, 25-21, 22-25, 15-10.

With the win, Mt. Carmel broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 11-8. As for Helix, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mt. Carmel will host University City at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Helix, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Scripps Ranch at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
