Softball Preview: Davis Darts vs. Bingham Miners

The Davis Darts will head out on the road to face off against the Bingham Miners at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Davis is coming into the match hot, having won their last five games.

On Friday, Davis needed a bit of extra time to put away Weber. They had just enough and edged the Warriors out 8-6. Eight seems to be a good number for Davis as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Serena Roth spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on nine hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jada Chilton, who scored a run while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Bingham stacked an 11th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Monday. They never let Corner Canyon onto the board and left with a 7-0 win. The victory was a breath of fresh air for Bingham as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Kali Clark and Shyann Banasky did most of the damage at the plate: Clark went 2-for-3 with three RBI, a triple, and a run, while Banasky went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Brooklynn Fogg, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.

Davis has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season. As for Bingham, their win bumped their record up to 16-5-1.

Tuesday's game will be a test for both team's pitchers. Davis hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .361. However, it's not like Bingham struggles in that department as they've averaged .376. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Davis might still be hurting after the 11-0 defeat they got from Bingham in their previous meeting back in May of 2023. Thankfully for Davis, Shelbee Jones (who didn't allow a single earned run and only one hit while striking out 12 over five innings pitched) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
