Baseball Recap: Juniata Gets the Win

While Juniata's victory against Susquenita wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Indians narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Blackhawks 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Indians have posted against the Blackhawks since April 22, 2022.

Daylyn Kennedy made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). He has become a key player for Juniata: the team is undefeated when he posts at least eight strikeouts, but 3-11 otherwise. Kennedy was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one triple, and one run. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last three times he's played.

In other pitching news, Jack Greenholt looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Brady Hack, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Quentin Houtz, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI.

Juniata's win bumped their record up to 6-11. As for Susquenita, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-12.

Looking ahead, Juniata will head out to take on Penns Valley Area at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Susquenita does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
