Softball Recap: Northside Mustangs vs. Lane Tech Champions
Northside had lost ten straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 2-7 to make it 11. They lost 9-2 to the Lane Tech Champions. The Mustangs were not able to make up for their defeat to the Champions from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.
Northside saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jayda Rodriguez, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.
As for Lane Tech, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 8-5. The result was nothing new for the Champions, who have now won seven matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.
On Lane Tech's side, Gianna Greco spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up seven Ks.
At the plate, Lane Tech let Grace Brobson and Chayse Radcliff run wild. Brobson got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run and two runs, while Radcliff went 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI Radcliff has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Olivia Segura, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
Coming up, Northside will host Whitney Young at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Lane Tech, they have already played their next game, a 12-2 victory against Taft on the 17th.
