Basketball Game Preview: Northside Vikings vs. Rayne Wolves

The Northside Vikings will face off against the Rayne Wolves at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Tuesday, Northside was fully in charge, breezing past Comeaux 60-27. Given the Vikings' advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 130th, while the Spartans are ranked 296th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Rayne entered their tilt with Teurlings Catholic on Tuesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 54-52 win over the Rebels. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Wolves have posted since December 13, 2024.

Rayne has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.5 points per game. As for Northside, their win bumped their record up to 11-13.

Northside was able to grind out a solid victory over Rayne when the teams last played back in December of 2023, winning 69-59. Will Northside repeat their success, or does Rayne have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
