Volleyball Recap: Durango Takes a Loss + How To Watch

After flying high against Grand Junction Central last Saturday, Durango came back down to earth. The Demons fell 3-1 to the Fruita Monument Wildcats on Friday. The Demons were not able to make up for their defeat to the Wildcats from their previous meeting back in October of 2024.

The match finished with set scores of 25-14, 25-21, 23-25, 25-16.

Aysia Mathews paced Durango's offense, picking up 14 kills. Mathews got some help from Indie Shows and her 32 assists. Shows was also solid from the service line: she led the team with four aces.

Among those leading the charge was Dana Conklin, who had 14 digs. Those 14 digs gave her a new career-high.

Durango's loss dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Fruita Monument, they pushed their record up to 5-3 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.

Durango has already played their next contest, a 3-0 victory against Grand Junction on the 20th. As for Fruita Monument, they will challenge Grand Junction Central at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wildcats are facing the Warriors at the right time seeing as the Warriors are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
