Baseball Recap: Mission Has No Trouble Against Jefferson

Mission's game last Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Jefferson Grizzlies with a sharp 11-4 victory. The win continues a trend for the Bears in their matchups with the Grizzlies: they've now won four in a row.

Diego Ramirez was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Miguel Pimentel, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in hits. Another player making a difference was Noe Zuleta, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

The victory got Mission back to even at 1-1. As for Jefferson, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mission will take on Lincoln at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Jefferson, they will hit the road for the first time this season to challenge El Camino at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
