Basketball Game Preview: Wister Wildcats vs. Spiro Bulldogs

The Wister Wildcats will head out to challenge the Spiro Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.

Last Tuesday, Wister had to suffer through a 66-17 loss at the hands of Red Oak. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 317th, while the Eagles are ranked 99th).

Meanwhile, Spiro came tearing into Tuesday's match with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20 points) and they left with even more momentum. They enjoyed a cozy 51-36 win over the Wolverines.

Spiro pushed their record up to 14-4 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.2 points per game. As for Wister, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-16 record this season.

Wister lost to Spiro on the road by a decisive 57-40 margin when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Can Wister avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
