The Barrington Eagles will venture away from home to challenge the St. Raphael Academy Saints at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Barrington is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.
Barrington lost a heartbreaker the last time they played South Kingstown, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Thursday's game. The Eagles blew past the Rebels 10-3 on Thursday. Considering the Eagles have won six matches by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Kendall Fisher (2025) spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up six Ks.
At the plate, Maya Etheridge (2026) was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run. Another player making a difference was Aislinn McCoy (2025), who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Meanwhile, St. Raphael Academy faced Ponaganset in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Saints had just enough and edged out the Chieftains 3-2. The victory continues a trend for the Saints in their matchups with the Chieftains: they've now won five in a row.
Isabella Sousa made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off seven hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
Sousa wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jaliyah De Los Santos, who went 2-for-3 with two runs. Sophie Roman also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
St. Raphael Academy's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Barrington, their record is now 8-2.
Both Barrington and St. Raphael Academy just can't seem to miss. The Eagles have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.5 hits per game. However, it's not like St. Raphael Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Barrington suffered a grim 13-1 defeat to St. Raphael Academy when the teams last played back in April of 2023. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
