Basketball Recap: Ayden - Grifton Comes Up Short

Ayden - Grifton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They were outmatched by the D.H. Conley Vikings and fell 58-24. While losing is never fun, the Chargers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 490th, while the Vikings are ranked 219th).

It was another big night for Britni Silver, who went 7 for 15 on her way to 17 points in addition to eight boards and three steals for D.H. Conley. Silver is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Charlazha Wilson, who went 5 of 11 on her way to 13 points and five rebounds.

Ayden - Grifton's defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for D.H. Conley, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ayden - Grifton will face off against Greene Central at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Greene Central is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.4 points per game this season. As for D.H. Conley, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Havelock at 6:00 p.m.
