Basketball Recap: Shadow Mountain Comes Up Short

Shadow Mountain extended their losing streak to five on Thursday, dropping them down to 7-16. They were dealt a 64-32 loss at the hands of the Greenway Demons. The Matadors were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Demons earlier this season, when they won 48-47.

Shadow Mountain's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Brie Hernandez, who posted seven points and seven boards, and Tess Newport, who put up seven points and five rebounds.

As for Greenway, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. They have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six games by 29 points or more this season.

Greenway was led to victory by Charlotte Buchanan and Jadyn Comeno. Buchanan dropped a double-double with 19 points and 16 boards, while Comeno earned 13 points in addition to eight steals and six assists. Those six assists gave Comeno a new career-high. Mya Lowe was another key player, putting up seven points and nine rebounds.

Shadow Mountain didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 54-36 loss against Goldwater on the 30th. As for Greenway, they have also already played their next contest, a 60-34 win against Moon Valley on the 3rd.
